Interview
Christian Thielemann, Renée Fleming and Thomas Hampson on Richard Strauss A Richard Strauss evening with Christian Thielemann, Renée Fleming and Thomas Hampson
Christian Thielemann once said that with Richard Strauss, he tries “to balance two aspects which seem to be mutually exclusive: transparency and richness”. This Strauss concert demonstrates how marvellously the conductor masters this balancing act. The soloists in a selection of sumptuous orchestral songs and excerpts from the opera Arabella are guest artists Renée Fleming and Thomas Hampson.
