Heinz Holliger

Composer, conductor

Heinz Holliger is a musical all-rounder. As a globally renowned oboe virtuoso, the Swiss musician cultivates the repertoire from the Baroque to the modern era. At the same time, he develops innovative playing techniques that have inspired numerous contemporary composers to create new works. Since the 1970s, Holliger has also dedicated himself to conducting, with a great passion for the music of Robert Schumann and the French repertoire. The musician has also caused an international sensation as a composer – he studied under Sándor Veress and Pierre Boulez, among others – and was quickly counted among the most experimental representatives of the contemporary avant-garde.
