Kristjan Järvi, born into a musical dynasty in Estonia and raised in the USA, epitomises cultural and artistic diversity. The successful conductor, producer, composer and arranger, who began his career as assistant to Esa-Pekka Salonen at the Los Angeles Philharmonic, is known for his innovative programmes, which range from the great classics to modern music. Järvi was chief conductor of the MDR Sinfonieorchester in Leipzig from 2012 to 2018 and has made guest appearances with many leading orchestras. He continues to lead the New York-based classical hip-hop jazz group Absolute Ensemble, which he co-founded.
