Kirill Petrenko and the Berliner Philharmoniker: Dawn of a new era
Their joint concert appearances between the election of Kirill Petrenko as chief conductor of the Berliner Philharmoniker and his debut in his new position in August 2019 were experienced by all involved as unusually intensive and exhilarating. And they considerably increased the anticipation of the new Philharmoniker era. In this film, which was made shortly before Petrenko took office, members of the orchestra talk about their new chief conductor. They express the way in which he combines meticulous rehearsal work with unleashed passion in concert, and musical uncompromisingness with personal modesty. Concert excerpts show the orchestra and the conductor performing works by Tchaikovsky, Scriabin and Beethoven.
