Bernard Haitink and the Berliner Philharmoniker
“They say about Venice that all cities are more or less the same, but Venice is just a little bit different,” Bernard Haitink once said, “and you could say the same about the Berliner Philharmoniker.” The mutual admiration between orchestra and conductor, who was made an honorary member in 2004, was obvious. Our selection brings together some of the outstanding performances from over 200 concerts that Haitink gave with the Berliner Philharmoniker.
