“The performers,” says Vito Žuraj, born in 1979, “have a special relationship to intuition and construction, which is why working with them has always been a key part of my work. A musician contributes the practical part. Especially when he plays new music time and again, he can say a lot about what a composer needs”. The Slovenian composer and computer music specialist, who studied under Wolfgang Rihm among others, tailors his works to the performers. In addition to electric sounds, he often incorporates staged elements and parameters that utilise the acoustic space.
