This season, Sir Simon Rattle conducted the complete symphonies of Jean Sibelius and the five piano concertos by Ludwig van Beethoven (soloist: Mitsuko Uchida). Another highlight was Peter Sellars’s now legendary staging of the St Matthew Passion.
