“Freedom,” says Korean conductor Eun Sun Kim, “is an integral part of any performance of music. The score is a guide and helps to understand the composer’s intentions. It is important that the conductor follows the composer in this respect”. With “great sensitivity and flexibility” and performances of “astonishing vibrancy and assurance” ([New York Times]), Eun Sun Kim has catapulted herself into the international top league in a very short time. She was assistant to Kirill Petrenko, Simone Young, Jesús López Cobos, Ivor Bolton and Jiří Bělohlávek, and has been music director of San Francisco Opera since the 2021/22 season.
