Bryn Terfel
bassBryn Terfel, who won several major competitions while he was studying at London’s Guildhall School of Music & Drama, enjoys taking on the roles of sinister rulers, evil villains, devils and demons. But the Welsh bass-baritone has also enjoyed international success with Wagner’s Wotan, Mozart’s Figaro and Verdi’s Falstaff, with one outstanding milestone being his role debut as Jochanaan in Strauss’s [Salome] at the 1992 Salzburg Festival. The very next year, Bryn Terfel made his debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker, with whom he has been a recurrent guest ever since.
