Bryn Terfel
BasseBryn Terfel, who won several major competitions while he was studying at London’s Guildhall School of Music & Drama, enjoys taking on the roles of sinister rulers, evil villains, devils and demons. But the Welsh bass-baritone has also enjoyed international success with Wagner’s Wotan, Mozart’s Figaro and Verdi’s Falstaff, with one outstanding milestone being his role debut as Jochanaan in Strauss’s Salome at the 1992 Salzburg Festival. The very next year, Bryn Terfel made his debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker, with whom he has been a recurrent guest ever since.
