Claudio Abbado and Viktoria Mullova at Suntory Hall in Tokyo

The Berliner Philharmoniker were the first international orchestra to perform at Tokyo’s Suntory Hall, which opened in 1986. Almost six years later, they presented a Brahms cycle to Japanese audiences under the direction of their chief conductor Claudio Abbado. The performance documented here features the composer’s Second Symphony and his Violin Concerto. The soloist is Viktoria Mullova.
